Monthly Empties: March 2016 Reviews

Hello there April! How on earth did you get here?! No, seriously, how is it April?

Today, as it's already nearly the middle of another month, I am bringing you details of the products I've used up during March, with little reviews of each.

I have managed to get through quite a big stash during March as I've been making a particular effort to get to some of my waiting products. So, happy reading!

A Weekend in London Part 3: A Beauty Spending Spree ft. Lush, Kiko, Mac and Urban Decay

This is the last of my posts about our recent weekend in London, you can read parts one and part two if you want to catch up.

Our last day in London was spent doing my favourite thing in the world, shopping! I took the opportunity to go a little bit crazy and picked up a load of beauty treats. As it's been a while since our trip (Valentine's weekend), I've now had chance to use some of the bits I bought too so I can give you a bit of a review.

What's Inside...Pink Parcel March 2016?

I'm excited to bring you this post today; I've recently renewed my Pink Parcel subscription after a three month break and this is my first box since re-joining.

I had a short break from PP as I had built up quite a stock of products so decided to use them up before continuing my subscription.

There are some really great items in the March box, here are my thoughts on the things I received.

A Weekend in London Part 2: Sky Garden Sunset

Me and my hubby recently spent the weekend in London visiting my brother and his girlfriend; I wrote about the first part of our trip in a previous post here, and now I'll continue the tale of our weekend.

What's Inside...Glossybox March 2016?

I'm a little late to the party on this one; I know I've been seeing lots of fellow bloggers reviewing Glossybox's March offer already, but that doesn't mean I've missed the boat. I still want to share my views on the products from this month's box, as everybody has their different opinions don't they?

The Nail Files 2016: Weeks 9-12

Almost another month has gone by and it's time to have a look at my nail looks for weeks 9 to 12 of 2016. I've stuck to quite plain simple choices these past couple of weeks.

Turning a Negative into a Positive - A New Job Role

Today's post is something a bit different. Last week was really weird, almost surreal, and I felt like sharing on my blog.

I got a bit of a knock back at work last Tuesday, but in the short space of a day, I managed to turn that negative into a huge positive and I'm really happy about how things have turned out. This might be a long one, but I hope you enjoy reading about my experience.

Turning 30...My Birthday Celebrations

20th February marked a special occasion, it was the day I turned 30...suppose I should start feeling like a proper adult some time soon!

Feeling Pretty Vintage Blog

Here comes the cliché...how the hell did this happen?! How have 30 whole years gone by? I swear last time I checked I was 18 years old, just meeting my now husband and trying to fathom out if I actually did want to go to university or not.

That aside, I have to say I actually quite like being 30. Okay, it's only been a few weeks, but so far I'm really not fussed by it. Let's be honest, not a lot changes does it? I still look young (thanks genes!) and I still feel young so ultimately, age really is just a number.

A Weekend in London Part 1: Good Food and Alice in Wonderland

A couple of weeks ago (Valentine's weekend) I spent a lovely long weekend in London with my hubby. My brother and his girlfriend live in London so we were able to stay with them and we basically spent the weekend eating our way through some amazing restaurants.

I thought I'd do a little series of posts to let you know what we got up to. I didn't take millions of photos so my posts might be a bit word heavy, but I wanted to share with you some of the things we did and places we visited. I've split my rundown of our weekend into a couple of posts; there's a lot to tell so I don't want to bore you all at once.

Step Into Spring with No.7 at Boots

Ahh No.7, you strike again with your irresistible "free gift with purchase" offer. I innocently visited Boots for some essentials and there you were, begging to be taken advantage of...

...right, I'll stop talking like a weirdo now.

No.7 at Boots have a brilliant 'free gift with purchase' offer running at the moment which I just wanted to share with you. I'm not 100% sure of the end date for the offer so I apologise in advance if this post is too late.

Monthly Empties: February 2016 Reviews

Here we are at the start of another month and 2016 is flying by (yes I'm a cliché and I'm not sorry!)

February was a good month for me in terms of getting through a lot of beauty products in my collection, so I have a lot to share with you in today's post. I've reviewed all the things I used up so you can get an idea of what I thought of the products.

The Nail Files 2016: Weeks 5-8

If you've been following my blog, you may have noticed that I started a series called "The Nail Files 2016", which I was using to show you my manicures week-by-week. I decided to change the way I was doing these posts, as it felt like my blog was getting clogged with them. So, I'll be posting them monthly (or thereabouts), to continue showing you the nail looks I've gone for each week, but without bombarding you on a weekly basis.

What's Inside...Glossybox February 2016?

It's come round to that time again, time for a review of my latest Glossybox. It seems just two minutes since January's box landed on the doorstep but here we are looking at February's box already.

If you want to know more about how Glossybox works, find out in my introductory post here.

Let's take a look at February's offering.

Away With Work: What's in my Washbag?

One thing I've learned over the years I've enjoyed reading beauty blogs is that, as a community, we're generally quite a nosy bunch! We love to see what others pack into their handbags, holiday cases etc. That thought inspired me to write today's post.

A few weeks ago, I spent a couple of nights away with work. I was only away two nights but, being a beauty addict, I obviously had a washbag brimming with goodies taking up most of the room in my little flight case.

It's not often I get an evening to myself in a nice cosy hotel room, so I took along some beauty favourites so I could have a little pamper.

Monthly Empties: January 2016

We're already a week into February so I thought I'd better get this post published. I was trying to think of an innovative title for this post (everyone uses something like 'month Empties'!) but it turns out there's really no need to over complicate it...

So, here's a run-down of the things I used up in January, and a little review of each.

My Love For...The Body Shop: Brand Spotlight

Today I thought I'd share with you a little spotlight piece on one of my favourite brands...The Body Shop. I know I'm not alone in loving this brand, and like many beauty fans my affair with The Body Shop began at a young age.  Let's take a look at my collection and I'll share my thoughts on my favourite products...

My Top Three for Keeping My Makeup Brushes Clean

I'm fairly certain we all know that it's worthwhile keeping our makeup brushes clean. For a lot of people, cleaning their (often vast) brush collection is a bit of chore, one of those tasks you know you need to do but the thought of it fills you with dread.

I'm just going to throw it out there and admit, I'm not one of those people. I don't find it a chore, I actually enjoy the ritual of a good brush cleaning session. I know, I need to get out more.
The benefits of cleaning your kit far outweigh the drawbacks (in fact, are there any drawbacks?!) Decent makeup brushes don't come cheap, they're an investment and that warrants due care and attention in my book. If your brushes are clean, your makeup goes on so much better, the bristles feel more comfortable against your skin, you're avoiding transferring bacteria and nasties from product to brush to skin and back...see, there are no drawbacks.

The Nail Files 2016: Week 4

It's that time of the week again. I'm quite impressed I've managed four weeks on the trot actually doing something with my nails and making the effort to sit down and sort them out! I am a little hungover today following a housewarming party I was at last night, so I did need a bit of a pamper.

StyleExpertise Haircare by Superdrug...My Thoughts

Today I'm bringing you my thoughts on a couple of little hair care products I picked up from Superdrug recently. I didn't know Superdrug had its 'own brand' hair care, but I've been using a couple of things from their range and they've quickly become part of my daily routine.

The Nail Files 2016: Week 3

This week, I've decided to give my nails a little bit of a rest and some TLC with some treatments. I'll be giving them a break from the polish and gel and using the lovely Ciate treatments I received in my mini mani month advent calendar.

What's inside...Glossybox January 2016?

Today I'm bringing you details of the contents of my first Glossybox of 2016.  January's offering includes four full-sized products and one which is described as 'luxury'-size. I gave you a rundown of how Glossybox works in my post here.

The Nail Files 2016: Week Two

It's week two in my little series, showing you my weekly manicures and giving reviews of the products used.

You may have seen my mid-week update (here) in which I showed you how last week's mani lasted through the week. I don't plan on doing this every week, but wanted to for the first one to give you an idea of how I got on.

This week I have gone for a different colour and have used my gel kit again to give it a lasting finish (hopefully!)

Mid-Week Update! - The Nail Files 2016: Week One

Today I am just dropping in to give a little update on how my manicure is holding up now we're at the mid-week point.

My post went up on Monday, but I actually did my nails on Saturday. I'm writing this on Wednesday, so the polish has had almost 4 full days of wear.

The Nail Files 2016: Week One

Welcome to the first post in a series I plan on running throughout the year, showcasing my nails each week (or whenever I change them). This post will be slightly longer than usual as I introduce you to some of the key products I'll be using for my manicures. I tend to change my nails every week as I get bored easily, so hopefully these posts will be published weekly.

Week One: Manicure with No.7, Ciaté London and United Beauty

Before Christmas, I read a great review (by Pixiwoo, hereof United Beauty's Gel Touch Starter Kit. The kit gives you everything you need to create a gel manicure at home, using any nail polish as your base. For me, this was the key selling point. So, I treated myself to the kit, from the site recommended in the Pixiwoo review, Just Beauty (though when I checked the site for this post, the kit didn't seem to be coming up in a search).

Hello 2016! Resolutions and Goals

New Year, New Me?

As it's a new year, now's the time when we all make our resolutions and plan how we're going to generally 'do better' for the next twelve months. I'm the first to admit I'm a bit useless with resolutions. Like most people, I start off with these ideas and then by February they're out of the window and I'm back to behaving as normal old me.

Prime example: last year, me and Adam made a pact to use our Saturday evenings to actually put to use the many cookbooks he has collected over the years; we were going to pick a different recipe every week and spend time together making delicious meals. I can honestly only think of one occasion when we actually did this. Best laid plans and all that...

Having said all this, I did take a minute yesterday to pop some little notes on my notepad app on my phone, of things I do want to try and 'achieve' (if that's the right word) in 2016. As my blog is new, and I'm busy working on building my content, it seemed a good idea to write this post to document my 'resolutions', so I can look back on them in twelve months' time and reflect on whether I stuck it out. Plus, there are loads of resolution posts about in the blogging world at the moment, so I figured I might as well join in with the rest of this community that I'm venturing into.
