What's in the box?
Let's get straight to it then and show you what I received this month, and then I'll let you know what I think of this month's treats.
Unani - Dermo Defense Face Mask
First up we have a pampering face mask by the brand Unani. I have only heard of this brand via Glossybox; I'm currently using their Day Cream which I received in a box earlier this year. I'm enjoying using that product so I'm happy to see something from Unani in this month's box. The brand itself is Spanish and its ethos is around providing natural, gentle skincare products.
My skin has been in need of some TLC recently, so I'm looking forward to trying out the mask. It offers hydration, protection and nutrition - all sounds good to me! I haven't used it on my face yet but I did squeeze some product out to see what it was like. I was expecting a cream but it's a very light gel texture, with a lovely fresh fragrance which isn't too heavy or perfumed. I'll be sure to report back when I have given it a go.
Teeez Cosmetics - Oasis Gem Lipstick in the shade Coral Onyx
This is the first I've ever heard of Teeez Cosmetics, which is great because one of the main reasons I signed up to Glossybox was to discover new and different brands. A quick glance through the website tells me that the company is European and focuses on "high-end, concept-driven, niche cosmetics", with a focus on high fashion. Sounds interesting!
The product is a lipstick with a satin matte finish. I think the coral colour is lovely, but for me it would be more of a spring shade (I'm still loving deep wintery tones). I popped it on and I liked the colour, it is different from anything I already have. I am a bit unsure about matte/satin finishes, though for the five minutes I wore this it didn't feel overly drying. I need to give it more of a test; roll on spring.
On a side note, the packaging is pretty cool and again different from anything I already own.
Madara - Time Miracle Cellular Repair Serum
I have been using serums on my skin for years now but I'm not particularly loyal to a brand or product; I'm always happy to give something else a try and luckily these days my skin is much less sensitive so I can try more variety of products. Again, I hadn't heard of Madara as a brand. Another Google and I find out that the brand provides organic, vegan skincare.
I had a quick test of the serum on the back of my hand and I was quite impressed at how far a small amount went. A tiny dab spread evenly across the back of my hand and it felt soft and silky. This is the 'luxury size' product in this month's box but I can see it lasting a while as a small amount seems to go far.
The serum has a very 'spa-like' scent. I'm rubbish at describing scents (is anyone good at this?!) - the words I wrote down as I smelled it were, in this order: spa-like, herbal, spicy, Christmas cake, citrus. If that doesn't convince you to pop it on your face, I don't know what will! (*laughing emoji*)
Angele Paris - Nail Lacquer in 'Red'
Another new brand, Angele Paris. I couldn't find a website for this brand or anywhere that may stock it so I'm afraid I can't tell you much.
The shade is lovely, I don't have many reds so happy to stick this in my collection and give it a try. The formula looks quite thin so it may need a couple of coats; I'll let you know when I've given it a whirl. There's no shade name or number on the pot, it's just referred to in the notes as 'red'. Simple!
Glossybox - Eyeshadow in Glossy Mauve
Last but not least is a product made and branded by Glossybox themselves, a lovely single eyeshadow in a really beautiful shade. I would describe it in a very similar way to my latest nail varnish (Merino Cool by Essie) - it's somewhere between grey and purple. I tried to swatch but the lighting was terrible so when I get some daylight I will give it another go. It has a lovely shimmer running through it and it looks very buildable. A light stroke would give you a nice subtle wash of colour; on top of a good primer you could build up the drama. The notes with this month's box suggest the eyeshadow can even be used with a wet brush for more impact. It's a great size too and the shadow itself is 'buttery' soft (that word gets used too much...but no other fits!)
First impressions - what did I think?
I'm very happy with this month's box. There is nothing in there that I won't try out. My favourite product on first look is the face mask and my least favourite is the lipstick purely because it's a satin/matte finish.
I hope I can bring you some detailed reviews once I've had chance to properly use each of the products.
Let me know what you thought of your January subscription boxes!
