My Love For...The Body Shop: Brand Spotlight

Today I thought I'd share with you a little spotlight piece on one of my favourite brands...The Body Shop. I know I'm not alone in loving this brand, and like many beauty fans my affair with The Body Shop began at a young age.  Let's take a look at my collection and I'll share my thoughts on my favourite products...
It's safe to say my Body Shop collection is...not small! Amazingly, a lot of the products featured have been collected over more than a year - because the stuff lasts ages, it's actually difficult to run it out. I had a Body Shop at Home party just before Christmas 2014, and some of the products detailed here were either bought with my commission or were included as free gifts. A lot of my stash consists of staple products so even though they're past incarnations, I hope you'll still be interested in my thoughts.

My lovely friend Samantha is a Body Shop At Home consultant, which is brilliant as she always has little offers up her sleeve and can introduce me to new launches a little bit ahead of the shops.  In the next couple of weeks, I'll be taking part in some product testing for her, so I'll be sharing more of my thoughts on the ranges she gifts me, here on my blog.

Onto my current collection then.

Body Shop Products

Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask
I love this product! It's a night mask for your face, the texture is gel-like and as the name suggests, it is 'bouncy'. I use it overnight and my skin feels hydrated and looks quite luminous the next day. The texture takes some getting used to but once it's on your face it melts in nicely and feels silky.

Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub
This is the ultimate body scrub. It smells divine and just like a spa treatment, being from the Spa Wisdom range. I like a body scrub to be quite coarse but not scratchy, and this is perfect. It's a wonderful mix of cream and a great, salty exfoliator. I find it works best used on dry or slightly damp skin, then rinsed off. It is perfect for getting rid of unwanted tan marks!

Eye Palette: Frosted Pearls
This was from the 2014 Christmas collection and I love the colours for creating a wintery smoky eye. I won't say much else as it's no longer available.

Shimmer Cube Palette 23 Purple
Mum got me this for Christmas 2015. The shadows are buttery soft with a lovely shimmer and again make a lovely smoky eye, this time with purple shades. The little solid cubes of colour are pure blocks of eyeshadow. I can see this lasting me ages. The colours are: 01 Orchid Purple, 02 Candy Pink, 03 Pearly White and 04 Velvet Plum. Gorgeous!

Super Volume Mascara: Black, Eye Definer: Black & Eyeshadow Brush
These were also in the kit mum got me last Christmas, I haven't tried the mascara yet as I have several mascaras on the go which I need to use up. The Eye Definer is great, it lines well without dragging. The eyeshadow brush is quite stiff rather than fluffy; I use it for cream eyeshadow and for getting a defined crease.

30ml Hand Creams in Frosted Plum, Shea and Glazed Apple (not pictured)
I am a hand cream addict. I need them everywhere; in my bag, on my desk, by the sink. The plum and apple are from last Christmas' range; Shea is always available. These 30ml tubes are so handy, hence me having so many of them!

Red Musk Eau De Parfum 100ml & Black Musk Eau De Parfum 100ml
Body Shop perfumes are the perfect 'everyday' option for me. I don't like to spend a fortune on fragrance for everyday use and these are so affordable. White Musk was the scent that made me fall for the Body Shop so I generally adore any variation they introduce. I won't describe the scents because I am useless at it - but you must go and have a sniff of these two next time you're in the shop!

Coconut: Lip Butter, Shower Cream 250ml and Body Butter 200ml
Coconut is one of my favourite Body Shop Scents. I'm a girl who loves creamy, musky scents rather than fruity ones, so Body Shop Coconut has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember.

Frosted Cranberry: Shower Gel 250ml, Shimmer Lotion 250ml, Body Butter 200ml & Lip Balm
This stuff just will not run out! This is a set I picked up back in Christmas 2014 and it's still going strong. I've actually just put the shimmer lotion and shower gel away to swap for some other products I want to use up, they're about a quarter full. I'm not a massive lover of the scent, so I get fed up of it after a while. Nothing wrong with the products themselves though. The lip balm lives at work, it's quite sweet but unfortunately it's not overly moisturising. It's quite slippy; I much prefer the lip butter from the coconut range.

Strawberry: Shower Gel mini 60ml
Whilst I'm not a lover of the fruity scents, there is something about the strawberry I love. I've been using this mini as bubble bath as I have so many other shower gels. It works really well!

Glazed Apple: Shower Gel 60ml, Shimmer Lotion 60ml, Body Polish 75ml
Another fruity one...didn't I just say I don't love the fruit scents?!

Cocoa Butter: Shower Cream 250ml x 2, Body Butter 250ml
Back to the creamy scents, I can't get enough of Cocoa Butter. I love smothering the body lotion on before bed, I find it's quite a comforting scent which makes me feel all snug and cosy. The husband always says I smell like chocolate when I use this.

Vitamin E Hydrating Toner:
This one was gifted to me with an order I put in with my friend Sam. I'm trying it out at the moment and it will be one of the products I review in the near future, so I'll save my thoughts.

Shower Lily x 2 Green and Red
I love these little scrubby lilies, they foam up all the shower and bath products really well.

Vitamin C: Energising Face Spritz 100ml
This little beauty is wonderful! It lives on my desk at work and is absolutely perfect for a pick-me-up in our dry, dull offices. It's refreshing, smells divine and offers my skin a bit of hydration when I'm stuck at my desk during busy periods.

Phew! We got there! Thanks for sticking with me, I hope you enjoyed browsing my collection. I think I will be using The Body Shop forever, it's such a great brand with fabulous ethics not to mention a wealth of choice for its customers. There's always something new to try and the range of scents across their products is just fabulous.  Let me know what your favourites are and what you'd recommend I try next.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I might have to try the exfoliatior; the one I've got at the moment isn't great. I went down to the outlet at J32 on Friday and stocked up on my collection; such good offers x

    1. Glad you like! I am so tempted to buy loads more when the sales are on but I already have so much to get through I am trying to be sensible! Definitely recommend the scrub, it's one of the best I've used. Definitely works best on slightly damp skin - takes a bit of massaging in but that makes it even more 'scrubby' and effective xx

  2. I'm so jealous of all the products you have, that's lucky your friend works there! Their products are amazing, especially their face masks. Would love if you could check out my recent fashion post? :)

    1. Thanks for commenting Louise! It's really great having a friend who's a Body Shop Consultant but it's so hard to resist spending. Only last week I ordered something else...watch this space for more! x
