February was a good month for me in terms of getting through a lot of beauty products in my collection, so I have a lot to share with you in today's post. I've reviewed all the things I used up so you can get an idea of what I thought of the products.
Naobay Calming Face Toner
This came in a Glossybox last year. It was quite nice and gentle, it cleaned off the last of my makeup when used after cleanser. Unfortunately though I did end up pouring away about a third, as I think it had gone off. I went to use it last week and it had a slightly 'off' smell so I didn't want to risk putting it on my face. I probably wouldn't buy this as it didn't blow me away, it was just an 'ok' toner.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+
I bought this after reading rave reviews on blogs, I thought it might help even out my skintone. Honestly, I was a bit 'meh' about this product. I don't think my skin is actually problematic enough to need the product, so as a result I didn't see particularly amazing results. It's not one I'll repurchase.
Amie Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser
This was a 10ml sample that I received in a Pink Parcel last year. It was a nice moisturiser, it was very hydrating and felt nice under my makeup. I probably wouldn't buy it as I tend to pick up skincare in store (usually Boots or Superdrug) and I think this is only available online. If I saw it in store I might pick one up. The only thing I would say is I didn't particularly notice it having a 'matte' finish.
Madara Time Miracle Cellular Repair Serum
Another Glossybox treat; this serum didn't impress me much either to be honest (sorry for all the negativity so far in this post!) The smell was quite strong, and I'm not a massive fan of strong scents for skincare. The formula was quite watery, and I found I needed quite a lot of the product to feel like it was distributed over my face. Lastly, it didn't really do an awful lot. I actually had a bout of dry skin whilst I was using this, I don't know if the product caused it but it certainly did nothing much to help. I definitely wouldn't buy this serum.
Philosophy Purity 3-in-1 Cleanser
Lo and behold another item from a beauty box; this one was from Pink Parcel. I really enjoyed using this and I would consider buying it. The first time I used it I did what I've always done with cleanser - applied it to cotton wool pads and swiped it across my face; but this didn't seem to work very well. I felt like loads of the product was left on my skin and I didn't feel clean - I needed a separate toner (which seemed to defeat the object of it being 3-in-1). So I tried another method, massaging it into my skin and removing with a hot cloth. This was much better, and my skin felt really soft after rinsing. This was a really nice little sample and I'd happily use the product in future.
Rimmel London Just Let It Go Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
I picked this up at a discount makeup store. It was really quite effective and although it was a water based eye makeup remover I did find it was very gentle on my eyes. I usually prefer cream based cleansers as I find the water types dry my eyes a little but this one was fine. I would possibly buy it again; the only downside was it didn't last very long but as it is fairly cheap that isn't a major issue.
Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara
This mascara was a Glossybox item, and I really liked it. I would happily repurchase. I really liked the brush style and the mascara was nice and thickening as well as effective at curling my lashes.
Manna Kadar Conditioning Lash Primer
Lash primer is something I never really thought I needed, but I have to say I was quite impressed with this. It helped to thicken my lashes before adding mascara and it did give them a nice full look. I probably wouldn't buy it, as I can definitely live without it, but as it came with a Glossybox I did get my use out of it and enjoyed it.
Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Nova
I have had this lip lacquer forever! I got it when Apocalips were quite new and I have to say I have absolutely loved it. I definitely need to buy another. The formula is perfect, the colour is perfect and the lasting power is perfect. Definitely a Holy Grail lip product for me.
Soap & Glory Trick and Treatment Concealer
This concealer was really great for the under-eye area, it contains lots of lovely ingredients which are designed to help reduce dark circles and I do think it had an effect. It was one of those concealers that has the perfect consistency for the under-eye area, nice and creamy and not too drying. A little goes a long way so it lasts a long time too. I'd recommend it.
Superdrug Style Expertise Salt Infusion Surf Spray
I wrote about this in a post here; I love this product and will definitely repurchase.
Maria Nila Luminous Colour Masque
Another Glossybox product; I used it as a normal conditioner as my hair isn't coloured so doesn't need a specific colour treatment. It was really nice and made my hair soft. If you were using it as a mask a few times a week, the tub would last you ages as you only need a small amount.
Sexy Hair Sulfate-Free Bombshell Blonde Shampoo
This was a freebie I was able to choose when I bought some beauty bits from www.feelunique.com. It was a nice shampoo, it made my hair feel really clean. I don't have an issue with my colour in particular so I didn't notice any special benefits, but it did the job. I probably wouldn't buy it as I just use 'normal' shampoos most of the time, but I'd recommend it for dyed blondes to give a try. The full size bottle has Marilyn Monroe's face on it and who wouldn't want that beauty in their bathroom?!
Charlie Pink Body Fragrance
Last but not least was this body spray by Charlie. I had a set of minis and this is one of the scents from the set. I can't describe smells, so this is what the bottle says it smells of: "a little tangerine mixed with red fruits and dark vanilla". I always pick up body sprays to layer over my deodorant and under perfume; I generally pick whatever's on offer, but I'd buy this one again as I did really like the scent.
Thanks for bearing with me whilst I went through this lot! Hope I've inspired you to try some new things (or avoid some). Let me know what you're using up and loving this month.
