Review: Kat Von D Beauty - Shade and Light Eye Contour "Sage" and Liquid Lipstick "Lolita II"

It was my birthday recently and I was completely and utterly spoiled. One of my gifts came from my group of makeup loving friends; they bought me Kat Von D's Shade and Light Contour Eye quad in the shade "Sage", and one of her liquid lipsticks in the shade "Lolita II"

Until I got this gift, I'd only used the "Tattoo Liner" liquid eyeliner from KVD's beauty range - and absolutely loved it - so I was really excited to give some other products from the range a try.

My friends know me really well, and know I have an obsession with green eyeshadow, so naturally they chose the shade "Sage" when picking the Eye Quad, and they picked a gorgeous browny neutral tone for the liquid lipstick - "Lolita II".

I've used these products twice now and have to say I am uber impressed. The eyeshadows are so pigmented, yet buildable, and they really do blend like a dream. I've done two different looks with the palette, the first was for my birthday night out so I went full on green based smokey eye. The second was a slightly lighter, softer, look for a weeknight out watching Jack Whitehall on tour.

Smokey Eye

The lasting power of these eyeshadows is fantastic. When I wore the dark smokey look, I was out all night dancing (i.e. sweating) and my eye makeup didn't shift, it was pretty much perfect when I got home.  Same goes for the lighter look. Granted, I use eye primer and a good dose of setting spray, but I still think these eyeshadows would hold their own without those steps.

Softer Look

The lipstick is also really lovely, I have quite a liquid lipstick collection these days and this brand is just as lovely as others I've used.  It's slightly dry on the lips, but I'm yet to find a liquid lipstick that isn't, and I'm not averse to popping a bit of lip balm on top. I am wearing it with the softer eye look in the photos above.

I cannot recommend these two gems enough! You can pick up Kat Von D products online at Debenhams, or if you're lucky enough to be in London you'll get hold of the range in the Oxford Street store. I've got my eye on the gorgeous Chrysalis palette and a couple more colour options for the eye quads...!

What are your thoughts? Any favourite Kat Von D products? Anything you think I need in my life? Would love any recommendations.
