Review: Origins Skincare*

*This post contains PR samples

I've been a fan of Origins face masks for a while now; I'd even go so far as saying they're my favourite brand for a skincare treat. Some of my favourite masks include:
I also adore the Maskimizer Skin-Optimizing Mask Primer; this for me is a must and a total game changer when it comes to face masking.

Since I love the brand so much, I've recently been branching out and trying more Origins products. I had a wishlist as long as my arm. One thing I really like about Origins is that they have a feature on their website which enables you to complete a 'profile' (skin type etc), to receive tailored recommendations on what products will suit you.

So, after getting hold of some Origins samples and some of my 'wishlist' items, and giving them a try for a few weeks, I thought it would be timely to round those up and provide a review of the things I'm loving. I have quite a few items so grab yourself a drink, get comfortable and have a read through.

Make A Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Treatment*

First up is this moisturiser, which is described as follows:

"Lightweight, oil-free rejuvenating treatment fortified with self-hydrating Rose of Jericho plus our Lychee and Watermelon hydra-sustain complex quenches deeper than ever before to help repair the natural moisture deficiency in dry, dehydrated skin. Clinically proven to instantly boost skin's moisture reservoir to keep it comfortably hydrated."

This is recommended for hydration, and for oily skin; my skin is more on the dehydrated side than oily, but I am still really enjoying using this product. It really is very lightweight but still provides a good level of hydration. It has a silky feel to it and lovely fresh scent. I'm not sure if I'd purchase simply because it's not the one most suited to my skin type, from their offerings, but I am certainly enjoying using it anyway.

Make a Difference Plus+ Rejuvenating Hand Treatment*

Hand cream is one of the most essential items in my beauty regime. I'm quite obsessed with the stuff. I have bottles of it everywhere and I apply it several times a day.

"Self-hydrating Rose of Jericho plus skin-reviving Trehalose and Sea Haricots work hand-in-hand to help skin recover from dramatic dehydration. Ancient Oceanic Flora helps repair damage due to UV exposure, daily use and abuse. Scutellaria Extract helps even out tone. Meadowfoam Seed Oil lavishes hands with long-lasting smoothness that's never greasy. Leaves an elegant, silky feel on skin. Forms an undetectable barrier."

This one is great. I have a sample size and I love that it has a metal clip attached so you can clip it onto your handbag, keys, or whatever else you may wish to hang it onto. It has the same fresh and clean scent as the moisturiser and it offers really good hydration for hands, without that awful sticky feeling some hand creams leave.

Ginger Soufflé Whipped Body Cream*

Now, the dehydration in my skin isn't restricted just to my face, it extends all over, so I really love to lather myself in some kind of rich moisturiser after a bath or shower (if I'm not feeling too lazy). This Body Cream is a real treat. The scent is absolutely divine and it's one of those that lingers on the skin once you've applied the product; it doesn't just disappear into nothing. I think ginger can be a bit of a 'marmite' scent, but this one really is lovely and I don't find it overpowering. I actually think the cream smells a bit like coca cola flavoured sweets, weirdly!

"When wageing battle with the elements, whether they're cold and dry or hot and humid, you can always seek shelter in this creamy cocoon. A relaxing sensation spreads all over you as tangy Ginger embraces your body while skin-nourishing Olive Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil and Apricot Kernel Oil invisibly surround weary, dreary skin in softness. All the while, the citrusy-crisp scent of lush, lighthearted Lemon, Lime and Bergamot helf lift listless spirits. There's no more savoury way to shoo your malaise than with Origins Ginger Souffle."

It's really very lovely and again like the other products already mentioned it manages to be very hydrating without being too heavy. A little goes a long way. It's one I'd definitely consider purchasing.

High-Potency Night-A-Mins Skin Refining Oil

I purchased this after speaking to a lovely Origins representative at the Boots store in York.

"Delete dullness overnight with our amazing sleeping peel. First, the relaxing aromas of Neroli Valerian and Vanilla lull you into sweet sleep. Meanwhile, potent skin resurfacers plus Vitamins C and E cushioned in 8 silky plant oils including Cranberry Seed, Sage and Pomegranate release dull, dead surface cells. Radiance is restored. Skin awakens smoother, rehydrated and vibrant."

I was looking for something to replace the May Lindstrom facial serum I had been using at night time. I was keen on trying the Night-A-Mins range (after researching on the Origins website), but I wasn't quite sure whether I needed the oil, or the cream.

The assistant was absolutely great - we talked through what I wanted and what I was already using (Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream on top of serum), and settled on the oil.

I've been using this every evening for a few weeks now, and it is fabulous. I'll admit, I think it's got a slightly odd scent to it, but it's so nice on my skin that I can get past it. I find I only need the tiniest amount to cover my face, a couple of drops at most. My skin feels hydrated and it does look bright and fresh. I am feeling very tempted to buy more from the range when my current products run out.

Flower Fusion Lavender Soothing Sheet Mask

Remember at the start I said I love a mask? Yes, I really do. I have recently started to like sheet masks more and more - although I do absolutely hate that silly little strip of mask that's supposed to go over your top lip / under your nose; I always cut it off!

Whilst at the Origins counter, I was persuaded very quickly to try out one of their new sheet masks. I opted for lavender as I thought this would be lovely and relaxing one evening. The fact that this purchase made me qualify for yet more samples did help with the persuasion part!

It's a really lovely mask and ideal for relaxing. My skin felt very hydrated after use and I didn't feel the need to apply any other lotions and potions before bed. I'll definitely give the others in the range a try at some point.

In conclusion...

I hope you've enjoyed my reviews. I think it is very safe to say that my love affair with Origins is strong, and I can tell it will be a lengthy one. I wonder what's next on my list...
