Since summer has made a welcome appearance these last few weeks, I have been really enjoying using lighter makeup, particularly for day to day when I'm heading to work in a stuffy office.
There are a number of products that I have really enjoyed using this last week or so, so I thought I would share my thoughts on those items and give you an idea of how you may be able to get a summer glow too.
I haven't worn primer for a week or so and I have been really loving Rimmel Fresher Skin foundation worn on its own with just a touch of concealer. I use the shade "True Ivory". I feel like this product sits somewhere between a BB cream and a foundation. It's lovely to apply and feels quite hydrating. It's an unusual, almost gel-like, texture and it always feels very cooling to apply. It also has a really nice scent to it - I know strong scents in makeup can be off putting but with this one I really do like it.
I'm also obsessed with Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector. I'll confess, I bought this with mixed feelings (I was making up the amount needed to get the Cult Beauty Summer goody bag!) and I did think it probably wouldn't live up to my expectations. I was completely wrong! I pop this on before foundation, using my ring finger to lighter pat it on and warm the product to my skin. I feared it would be quite hard to blend and that it'd cling to my under eye creases (the woes of being 30+!) but I needn't have worried. It is light and creamy and blends wonderfully. It gives my under eyes much needed brightness.
Once my foundation is on, I also add a bit of Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch concealer under the eyes. This is another product that I really like; it's a dupe for the much adored Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat, and I have to say I think it's a great dupe. Unlike Touch Eclat (which is solely a light reflector), the Maybelline offering manages to conceal AND illuminate. I can't recommend it highly enough and the added bonus is it is mega affordable.
The final item I am loving at the moment, to complete this look, is my Makeup Revolution Highlighter palette. I've heard that these powders are dupes for the high end Hourglass powders; I haven't yet tried Hourglass as the price point does make my eyes water, but a friend who's used both swears that the MUR version is every bit as good, if not better. I have the palette in the shade "Radiance" and it contains three powders - one is bronze (fab when I can actually be bothered tanning), one is an almost white / pearl shade, and the third is somewhere in between; a champagne kind of tone (I'm brilliant at describing shades aren't I?!) These powders are intended as highlighters, but because they are not packed with glitter, I find they work brilliantly as an all over face powder. I do like to 'set' my foundation but dislike a matte finish - these babies do the job of setting but with that touch of radiance and glow. They really do what it says on the tin (palette?)
If you're looking to create a fresh, glowing look for the summer, give some of these products a go!
